Does Your Business Need a Fire Risk Assessment?

The general rule is that any non-domestic premises require a Fire Risk Assessment. This includes any of the common parts of purpose built and converted blocks of flats.

Following some high profile fires in apartment blocks and commercial premises where there was a significant loss of life and property, the need for a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment, has been highlighted.

We carry out comprehensive checks and reports allowing you to comply with legislation. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires a risk assessment to be a methodical look at your property, which includes considering the means of escape, fire protection, early warning and fire suppression systems. It also provides recommendations to minimise or reduce the risk of injury or death should a fire happen.

Our assessor is a member of the Institution of Fire engineers and the Chartered Association of Building Engineers and as such is able to offer a detailed report in the PAS 79:2012 format. He is also experienced in the use of the Building Fire Performance Evaluation Method (BFPEM) or ‘Method’ as it is known.

Other services include Fire Safety Audits and these can also include checks on fire doors, emergency escape routes, signage, fire alarm system design and a review of your fire risk assessment and policies.
